Uganda to Punish Soldiers over Killing Civilians in Somalia

Mogadishu-Uganda Says it will punish soldiers who are accused of killing civilians in Somalia.
AMISOM troops were recently accused by Somali residents of shooting dead six members of one family following a landmine attack on its convoy,.
‘’AMISOM troops entered the house violently and started to shoot indiscriminately,’’ said one of the witnesses who spoke to the media.
According to local resident who spoke to the media, Ugandan troops who are part of the African Union troops entered the home of the family members on Friday night, after a roadside bomb hit one of their vehicles.
The incident took place in the port town of Merka, which is some 70km (45 miles) south of the capital, Mogadishu.
Uganda Responds
“Any UPDF officer or man found to have caused civilian deaths in Somalia will face the law. It is as clear as that”. Remarked Lt. Col. Paddy Ankunda Uganda’s Army spokesperson.
Uganda forms the bulk of African Union troops that are deployed to stabilize Somalia.
