Uganda Police Block Nude Protest

The police in Uganda have blocked a group of women from carrying out a demonstration. The women were intending to demonstrate against the police for stripping naked an official of the Forum for Democratic Change. The police over the weekend caused uproar over the manner in which they arrested a lady. Video recording show the police struggling to undress Zaina Fatuma during the arrest of FDC officials who were enroute to western Uganda to launch a party activity. President Museveni Promotes Controversial General as Elections Nears

By Joseph Elunya Brig Henry Tumukunde has been promoted to Lt Gen and retired from the army. Tumukunde a former spy chief has been on‘katebe’ (un-deployed) since 2005 when he was arrested for allegedly spreading harmful propaganda and military misconduct. He battled the charges at the General court martial until 18 April 2013 when the charge of spreading harmful propaganda was dropped. The joint charge of military misconduct was however upheld leading to him being sentenced to a severe reprimand.
