South Sudan Rivals Sign Peace Deal

Adis-ababa-The warring parties in the South Sudan conflicts have agreed to a peace deal aimed at ending a five months old conflict. The deal which was reached yesterday by South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir and his former deputy turned foe Riek Machar calls for an immediate ceasefire and the formation of a transitional government ahead of the drafting of a new constitution and new elections. The peace deal which was struck in Adisababa Ethiopia aims to end a conflict that has left thousands dead and more than one million people homeless. An earlier ceasefire agreed in January collapsed within days, with both sides accusing each other of restarting the fighting. […]

More Guns Will Never Solve the Mess in the D.R. Congo

Fighting between different armed groups and government forces has erupted once again in eastern DRC in these past few weeks. Keeping true to the nature of armed conflicts in the Great Lakes region, that conflict in the DRC has spilled to neighboring countries especially Uganda. Rwanda claims to have been shelled as well by FARDC in collaboration with FDRL, who stand accused of perpetrating the genocide and have set shop in DRC.
