A Ugandan Minister has quit the ruling National Resistance party.
Aidah Nantaba the state Minister for Lands quit the party over what she described as “flawed electoral process” in the primaries.
The National Resistance party confirmed today that it has formerly accepted the resignation of Aidah Nantaba from all NRM party activities.
The NRM party issued a statement today saying that the leadership accepted her “request” to withdraw from all NRM activities.
Dr. Tanga Odoi the party’s Electoral Commission Chairman says the Minister is free to leave since it’s a decision that she took by herself.
Tanga Odoi said the party has in the past lost more prominent members like former Premier and party Secretary General Amama Mbabazi and still remained strong and better organized.
More members are likely to quit the party after the 26th October party primaries unless the issue of irregularities is addressed.
