ASCO has won a major contract to provide Supply Base services to BG in Tanzania.

The international oil and gas services company has been awarded the three year contract, valued at around $100m.

13226710501The contract will be operated out of the port of Mtwara and will employ over 100 local people.

ASCO’s CEO for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) Euan Lockhart said, “This is a fabulous contract award for us. It gives ASCO a firm foothold in East Africa. We established the company in the Middle East and Africa just over three years ago when we launched our business in Oman. This year we have just opened a new regional office in Dubai. Slowly but surely, we have been building our reputation across the region. This contract gives us an excellent foundation from which to grow our business”.

The new contract will see ASCO work for a number of partners – BG, Statoil, Petrobras and Ophir. The four operators are engaged in deepwater exploration offshore Tanzania.

Under the contract, ASCO will control all the Supply Base operations that support the offshore exploration programme of recent major gas finds. These shorebase services will include warehousing, vessel loading and unloading, pipeyard storage, the provision of bulk chemicals as well as facilities management services.

ASCO Group CEO Derek Smith said, “ASCO has undergone major international expansion over the two years and we now operate in four key regions – Americas, Europe, MEA and Australasia. This contract is our largest in the MEA region, and gives us a tremendous boost as we continue to build our profile and reputation in this part of the world.”
