SABA-GIFCO to Invest in Uganda

SABA DIRECTORS 2Kampala-The Dubai based SABBA-GIFCO a cold chain logistics company is to setup its subsidiary in Uganda.

A delegation of investors from SABA-GIFCO firm led by the Director of the company Mr. Tarek Maki yesterday met President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni  and held talks with him on the issue of establishing the firm.

SABBA-GiFCO is renowned for transportation of frozen foods that include fresh fruits and vegetables across Africa and Arab countries.

It operates in countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Southern Sudan, Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait, Dubai and Iraq.

Mr. Tarek Makki informed President Museveni that the cold chain Logistics Company choose Kampala-Uganda as a hub for their investment because of the impressive economic growth the country is registering as well as the conducive investment environment.

He also revealed their interest to establish a slaughter house for cattle among farmers. The farmers will be direct beneficiaries of the project by selling their cattle to the abattoir.

President Museveni on his part welcomed the establishment of a slaughter house that would mitigate the transport costs incurred by farmers transporting their animals to Kampala.

Museveni assured SABA group directors of the good quality of meat in Uganda and that it is ranked 5th in the world because of its yellow fat.

He further assured Mr. Tarek of constant and more supply of cattle for beef and milk as farmers will be aggressively encouraged them to use modern farming practices for more yields of beef and milk. He also urged them to take interest in fruit and maize processing.

Mr. Tarek expressed interest in setting up a factory for the production of materials used for quick construction of mobile houses.

President Museveni welcomed the idea as it will not only provide construction materials but will also provide employment to Ugandans.
